New Year Greetings 2011

It’s amazing how so many memorable events happened in our lives here at UAACC in 2010! Mzee Pete’s 70th birthday…

the Leaders of Tomorrow Children getting top marks in school…

Mama C performing seemingly everywhere AND traveling to several cities in Africa as a part of the Poetry Africa tour…

Mwajabu’s models and designers winning number ONE in an unprecedented three fashion shows in one year…

an Art exhibition opening…

and this all in the latter half of the year!!

Early 2010 found Mama C speaking at many universities and community centers across America about the work going on at UAACC including Leaders of Tomorrow Children’s Home (LTCH), the program founded by Mzee Pete more than two years ago to ‘give these children a real push in life’ he says.

“The aptitude of these children and their thirst for knowledge is mind boggling” he remarks during a class with Dani, at 13th the eldest boy at LTCH, who Mzee is teaching about electricity and electronics.

“Our work is a continuing legacy of the community programs that were the cornerstone of the Black Panther Party!

What a blessing to still have the health, the energy, the passion and the creativity to keep pushing and passing on the joy of learning and the spirit of volunteerism that have been the hallmark of UAACC even after all these years!”

AS Mama C embarks on the next Heal the Community Tour beginning in Feb. she comments “One of the main focuses during this tour is to raise funds for a security wall for the children’s compound to keep out unwanted animals who are able to dig through the living bush fence that presently rings the area and a bus big enough to enable us to transport all these children in safety and relative comfort…instead of being packed like sardines in a can! “

“We look forward to what we can make happen in 2011 with the support of communities and friends around the world!

And we wish you all a year full of love, peace,
health and blessings!
