Volunteers are the life blood of UAACC...
the Spirit of Volunteerism Lives!!!

Mama Tammy came from Kansas City to share her knowledge of history and art. She also works with children in Ghana

We believe that we ALL have knowledge to share!

...a certificate/diploma/degree is not always required to share your expertise.

You DO however, need to have the passion...the will...the love to want to mentor someone to help them grow and be empowered in their lives!
People from all over the world come to UAACC to volunteer to share their knowledge in workshops both formal and informal...sometimes for a day...sometimes for a month...sometimes for a year or more!! And the experience is always enriching...even life changing for most!

Bro George Kyomushula volunteers his knowledge of English and more to share with youth in our community

We have several ongoing, daily programs which target the youth in our community including computer classes, art and craft classes, music, history, health and nutrition, sports and yoga as well as English classes, fashion design and tailoring and modeling. There are HIV/AIDS awareness, debates and outreach programs that encourage expression through the arts such as Community Theater, song and poetry. There is a resident ngoma (traditional dance) group, the FURAHIA Ngoma Group.  There is a very active recording studio, Peace Power Productions and there are basic video and photography clubs.
We are slated to begin Slam Africa Poetry workshops and performances in mid October this year and we hope to re-launch our community radio station by the end of the year!

"...it's great to see, year after year, so many youth find their voices, courage and self empowerment from participation in programs at UAACC," comments Mama C.

Volunteers teach all classes, and include Tanzanians, foreign residents and visitors from all walks of life and professions, all of various levels of expertise, but all with equal commitment to positive change and healthy lifestyles. All of our community programs are free of charge for Tanzanian youth as part of UAACC's commitment to serving the community we live in.

Creativity is always flowing...

Creative collaborations between young artists and old (er) from France and Tanzania resulted in the use of new instruments to jam' with in the form of what was dubbed a G'pipe beat, that gives a blending of traditional didgeridoo sound with an urban beat box flavor coming through a pvc pipe...
creativity to the max!
